5 things that have changed my life

Life hasn’t always been great, but whenever I look back at my journey, I love remembering key moments that have truly changed my life.

1. Volunteering

This was always going to come up. Come on, I used to run a dedicated volunteering blog.

Volunteering for me was where it all started. It was the one activity that gave me a sense of freedom and provide me with an opportunity to understand the life I want to live.

2. Blogging

3 1/2 years on and I’m still writing my heart away. Blogging has provided me with a platform to openly share my feelings.

Blogging is my therapy. It allows me to convey my feelings in a way I can express how I speak.

It’s also helped me to understand how I prefer to communicate and how to turn feelings to screen and screen to face to face interaction.

3. Public speaking

Growing up, I didn’t really say much. I was shy, afraid of being judged and since delivering talks at conferences, schools and universities, public speaking has helped me to believe in my story and gain the confidence I’ve always desired.

4. Sports Coaching

When I lost the opportunity to go to America on a scholarship, I never considered turning my heartache into an influence.

Coaching young people hasn’t been easy. It’s reminded me that I’m unable to compete like I once did.

But it’s been very rewarding. It’s enabled me to build my leadership and project management skills, and taught me to never give up hope.

5. Life itself

Bullying, Cancer, Suicide; topics that have rocked my life, but it’s now my biggest influence.

Life really is what we make of it and we have a choice of when it comes down to what motivates us.

Shitty life moments is my motivation. I don’t want to see others suffer.

That’s why I’m so open. It’s why I love what I do.

All it takes is one word, a sentence, an action and people can be inspired.

It’s been such a rollercoaster journey, but I wouldn’t change it for anything.
